58 Legends, chosen by finish: Riftbound’s Regional prize change

Overnumber Foil Plated Legends move to a top-58 draft. What changes for collectors, what Best-Of still awards, and why a prize name is not enough to identify a printing.

A favorite Legend now meets a different reward path

Best-Of prizes gave a collector a particularly personal tournament story: a special version of the Legend they chose to represent. Riot’s October 15 Regional Championship announcement changes that relationship for Overnumber Foil Plated Legends. The rare reward is moving toward overall finishing position, creating a different collecting story from winning a Legend-specific prize.

A choice earned through the standings

The top 58 finishers will select from the available Overnumber Foil Plated Legends in finishing order. First place chooses first. The distinction is between earning a choice through tournament performance and receiving a prize tied to the Legend used. The number 58 describes this event reward procedure; it is not a verified worldwide print run or circulating supply.

Best-Of continues, with a different version

Foil Plated Legends from Unleashed, Vendetta and Radiance become the Best-Of rewards, with Day 2 qualification required on that Legend. Origins, Proving Grounds and Spiritforged Legends are excluded from that Regional Championship prize category. That is a reward eligibility change, not an announcement that those cards are banned. Collectors should keep ordinary, Foil Plated and Overnumber Foil Plated identities separate.

Winning a Radiance prize does not mean taking it home that day

Riot says the timing of the change prevents on-site distribution of the Radiance Foil Plated Legends at these events. Availability is expected in January 2027, while the delivery method is still being determined. A reward’s provenance therefore includes its qualifying event and entitlement, as well as its eventual delivery. An expected month should not become a promised shipping date in a listing.

The reaction reveals two different reasons to compete

In the actual Reddit discussion, some participants welcomed a stronger connection between high finishes and scarce rewards. Others worried about the incentive to practice older or less represented Legends. These are views from one discussion, not a poll, verified market demand or evidence of a price movement. The disagreement concerns what the prize should celebrate: overall performance, or representation of a favorite Legend.

Keep the version with the story

For a collection, the useful question is which object you want to preserve: the illustration, the specific prize treatment, or a card with a particular event history. A listing’s broad ‘metal’ shorthand cannot establish those details. We have not verified current asking or transaction prices for the affected reward printings and make no price forecast. The immediate collector benefit is a clearer label for the exact version being pursued.
