After the Golden Box, a different kind of Pikachu payoff

Kangnami’s 28 May 2026 video follows an Akihabara card-shopping trip into a Golden Box opening at 16:11 and Japanese 25th Anniversary packs at 22:14. Our bonus episode revisits two enjoyable moments near the end: a familiar forest Pikachu at 22:54, followed by four Pikachu V-UNION pieces laid together at 24:05. This is a companion to an older opening, not a claim that the product or footage is new today. Watch the creator’s original for the full reactions and story.

22:54: that familiar forest Pikachu

The visible Japanese card matches S8a Pikachu 001/028 from 25th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION. Pokémon’s official introduction describes it as a recreation of the first 1996 expansion illustration. That rounded, familiar Pikachu makes this a fun scene to revisit. Checked on 14 October, TCGIndex’s saved US JustTCG Near Mint references are US$8.16 for the standard Holofoil listing and US$52.07 for the separately identified Mirror Holofoil listing, both observed on 11 October at 14:59:34 UTC. We show the two finish records separately; footage alone does not establish a definitive finish, condition, or value for the creator’s copy.

24:05: four cards become one crowded Pikachu picture

Next, four matching Pikachu V-UNION pieces are laid across the table. We compared their Japanese text and artwork with the official S8a entry: top left 025/028, top right 026/028, bottom left 027/028, and bottom right 028/028. These are the four Japanese pieces, distinct from an English SWSH promo printing or a single jumbo card. The many different Pikachu drawings make the completed picture worth a closer look.

A dated reference for each piece

Checked on 14 October 2026, TCGIndex’s saved US JustTCG Japanese Holofoil / Near Mint references are US$8.64 for 025/028, US$9.14 for 026/028, US$11.75 for 027/028, and US$11.67 for 028/028. All four underlying observations are 10 October 2026 at 14:47:15 UTC. Open each exact printing below to see its record and linked source, and sign in to save a favourite. These are dated US references, not today’s completed sales, Korean asking prices, a four-card bundle quote, or an appraisal of Kangnami’s opened copies. We have not added them into opening profit.
